What is Call Forwarding, and how is it used by Youmail?
YouMail uses the conditional call forwarding feature in the phone to send your unanswered calls to YouMail.
- Unanswered call
- Declined call
Does dialing the Conditional Call Forwarding Activate Code give you an error?
Are your callers getting the "Enter your 10 digit number" prompt?
Are you on a prepaid plan?
If so, unfortunately, most prepaid plans don't have the conditional call forwarding feature (allows a phone to ring before going to voicemail).
Prepaid plans include, but are not limited to, T-Mobile Flex Pay, Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile, MetroPCS, Cricket, and Simple Mobile.
You can call you carrier to check if they have the ability to program your phone with our deposit access-number that you can find at http://www.youmail.com/youmail/user/phones. If you need a local personal access-number, you can upgrade to personal or business accounts. http://store.youmail.com
Why won't prepaid plans work?
Most prepaid plans do not include conditional call forwarding feature, which allows a phone to ring before sending the calls to YouMail. We recommend contacting your carrier and request that YouMail be a voicemail option, or at the very least, allow conditional call forwarding to another phone number. Some carriers charge monthly fee for this feature.
It's the carriers who are restricting the use of the conditional call forwarding in prepaid phones.
