The most common reason for still receiving spam calls after installing YouMail is not customizing your account settings. Please review the settings below to find the best configuration for your personal needs.
Call Protection settings
Notes: [Paragraph bold]
PROTECT MY INBOX AND CALLS FROM SPAM - YouMail requires this setting to be enabled for us to protect your ringer and inbox from spam callers. Enable this option to be automatically protected from all known Spam callers.
For callers you consider to be spam but have not yet been labeled as such in our system, please report the call to ensure it's filtered out going forward.
In addition to these basic protection levels, we also have two different options for voicemail protection available to our paid subscribers. These can be found under the HOW TO HANDLE KNOWN SPAMMERS section of the Call Protection settings page.
- Place spam voicemail in Spam folder - this is our default and most popular setting because it still allows callers to leave voicemails for you to review. This gives you the opportunity to listen to messages and salvage any that you do not consider to be spam.
- Hang up and play out of service - this setting prevents callers from hearing your greeting or leaving a message. This is useful for personal or private numbers that should not be available to the general public or for anyone receiving unusually high amounts of spam or robocalls.
YouMail also offers a more personalized caller blocking experience under our CUSTOMIZED CALL PROTECTION section.
- Block everyone except my contacts - Enabling this option will block all non-YouMail contacts from ringing your device and they will be greeted by your "how to handle known spammers" setting.
- Block specific kinds of callers - YouMail can block specific number ranges, international numbers, private numbers, and local neighborhood spoofing to keep you safe from unwanted callers.
If after adjusting these settings a spam call still gets through, then it may be a number or message that we have not yet recorded. In some cases, our team will catch the number or message as spam after you have already received a call from that number so the spam label will appear AFTER the fact. In other cases, we may not have enough data yet so we encourage you to report the number/message as spam in our Directory.
