The purpose of the Wildcard feature is to allow you to create a contact that affects, not just a single phone number, but a wide group of numbers. This means you can create special greetings for or block entire area codes, companies or other sets of phone numbers.
How do I make a Wildcard contact?
Creating a Wildcard contact is very easy. You just create a contact like number but instead of a full phone number, enter however much of a sequence that you want to affect and follow it with a "?" or replace parts of the number with "?". Because the dial pad used on mobile phones does not have a question mark, you can only add a Wildcard contact on a computer. Follow this link to your contacts to create one.
Want to block an area code but still let a few numbers come through?
Wildcard blocking does not affect your YouMail contacts so anyone contact that falls into the Wildcard group would still be able to call you.
Here are some examples of how Wildcard contacts would affect different groups:
- A contact with "714?" will affect any number that starts with 714
- "7145550??0" will affect numbers such as 7145550110 and 7145550910
