Still Need to Cancel?
Returning to your carrier’s voicemail is very simple but keep in mind that it’s more than just deleting the app from your phone. Uninstalling the application only removes the app from your device, it will NOT stop your missed calls from going to YouMail.
To close your YouMail account and return to your carrier’s voicemail, you'll just need to complete 5 steps and dial your carrier's specific Deactivation Codes. Click here to close your account.
There are several ways to get the codes and cancel properly:
- Cancel your YouMail account on the web by clicking this link and following the onscreen instructions. Please note that this will permanently delete all voicemail messages, greetings, contact information, and anything else you have on YouMail.
- If the app is on your phone, you use a simple setting in the app to return to carrier voicemail without cancelling your account:
iPhone – Tap the Menu button (☰) on the top left, Open the Settings menu in the top right of the Menu, Select Return to Carrier’s Voicemail and Follow instructions on screen.
Android – Tap the Menu button (☰) on the top left, Tap Settings, then Activate/Deactivate, Select Return to Carrier Voicemail, Select Yes, return my voicemail to my carrier.
After you confirm that your carrier voicemail is working again, you can delete the YouMail app. - If you’ve already deleted the app, you have to dial a code directly into your phone to return to your carrier voicemail. Look at the table below, and dial the code listed next to your carrier to deactivate YouMail. If it doesn’t work, just dial 611 (on your wireless phone) and ask to return to carrier voicemail. It should only take a minute or two.

Why can't I delete this account? I've looked for settings clicked on it and deactivate/delete account doesn't show up. I tried using the codes to reset and still nothing.
@Jennifer You can click on "Close your account" directly in the article to bring you to the cancellation page.
I AM NOT SEEING CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT EITHER. HELP!
@Jones In the article, under "Canceling Your YouMail Account" you can click on "Close your Account" to bring you to the correct page.
I closed my account, dialed the deactivation code of ##004# for ATT, still can't get my calls to forward back to my carrier voicemail. My callers receive the message that my number is no longer active and disconnects them. I followed all the steps and it's still not working. Also called ATT and they can't find the problem.
@Takeisharhodes If the deactivation code did not work, your next option would be to contact your carrier and ask them to reset call forwarding on your phone and get your phone set back up with your carrier voicemail. I'll also be sending you an email, replying to the email that you sent us.
I cannot believe this, not only did you gain access to my personal.information (in a manner that I would guess was....not exactly legal) & use it fraudulently to enroll me in a service I've never heard of, but then you go the extra mile and make it virtually impossible to 1) deactivate this account, 2) reach a c/s rep from your company in order to get assistance by phone or online, and. lastly, you provide riddles wrapped in enigmas when someone asks you, straight out, how to deactivate the fraudulently established account. I have been around and around, and am also missing the secret that unlocks the setting which will take my name & personal information out of this 'service'. I've never seen business conducted so poorly, bordering illegally, in such a blatant manner. I know that I will be telling everyone on my social media counts about your fabulous company, over & over again. Along with the BBB, and any other organization involved in monitoring Internet business conduct. I will probably consult my lawyer, who, happens to be family & a partner in one of the countries finest, and highest grossing class action suit firms. This is not only shady, it's a disgusting invasion of privacy, theft & misuse of personal information, fraudulent, and designed to be misleading every step of the way when the consumer figures out what's happening. The fact that you have worked so very hard to constantly trick the people you manage to steal information from, going as far as to be deliberately vague, if not straight dishonest, when the consumer wishes to deactivate the account you set up under fraudulent circumstances, from not having anyone available to speak to you when your 'c/s offices' are contacted, to making your website a never-ending nightmare; makes me believe that you are doing much, much worse than trying to fool a few people into paying for your services. This is just a ripple in the the pool of filth businesses like yours thrive in. You're disgusting human beings, preying on the general public with a pathetic scam. I hope you can sleep well now, because it'll be hard as hell to sleep when you're in prison for fraud, or identity theft, conducting illegal business online......or under false pretenses. You're time will come, Darlings, and karma will make you pay as much and as hard as your prison roomie will every night. I congratulate you on your incredibly useful, honest, and transparent business. I hope you enjoy the spoils before they get confiscated.

@Ana I will respond to your email in just a moment so that we can resolve any problems you may have with YouMail.
You mail is not working. I am getting frustrated because no one to call and talk to. My carrier AT&T does not know how to set up this you mail account either. I got iphone 6 in February and have not been able to receive any of my messages. When I try to call to activate or deactive this you mail account it is giving me error messages and dismiss at the bottom. This is ridiculous. Can I please speak to a live person or can you de activate this account for ever!!!!
I have deleted the app and reinstalled it and it keeps giving error message. Can someone please contact or help me with this situation.
I agree with Ana

And it did Not work.

So here is my issue...I have changed phone numbers and have no access to my prior number. Now I keep getting emails telling me "YouMail has detected that xxx-xxx-xxxx is still forwarding unanswered calls to your YouMail account ending in xxxx" If I cannot make any changes to the old number how do I get rid of it on my account or stop the emails from coming?
@Mcintosh Jeff I'll have a member of our support team reach out to you momentarily so that we can get that resolved for you!
I deleted my account as per the instructions on the YouMail site--by dialing *73, and then confirming the deletion of the account. Annoyingly, I'm still not receiving any calls or voicemails. Also, when I just dialed *86 to check my voicemails manually, it said that I have no new voicemails, which I know is not true since several friends have left me messages over the last couple weeks. Are those voicemails lost forever? And will I ever be able to access voicemails on my device (iPhone 5s) again? My carrier, by the way, is Verizon. One last note: I have now attempted to call YouMail; I have submitted a ticket; and I have emailed a Customer Support
@Peter Cocchia Our support team has replied to your email. If the codes didn't work, you can also contact your carrier and ask them to reset call forwarding and use carrier voicemail again. You can reply to our email if you have any other questions.

I am deaf and my friend suggested I installjust the youmail app to my Android phone so I can read the text of the voicemail. It seemed to install correctly but when someone leaves a voice mail I get a "currently unable to retrieve transcription" message and nothing is transcribed.
What does this mean?
Is there an error occuring or am I supposed to pay to transcribe a message?
I cannot afford to pay so if that is required how can I disable YouMail and have google voice transcribe my emails? I cannot hear on the phone so any help is appreciated.
@Anthony Vernucci Voicemail transcriptions is a paid feature. I would be glad to assist you with getting connected. Look out for our email.
My number was changed and now I can't get the old
one off what do I do

Do not download YouMail because if you do and want to go back to your carriers voicemail it is a nightmare. The codes do not work! Need help!
@Gwatkins If the codes don't work on your phone, please contact your carrier and ask them to reset call forwarding. This will disconnect you from YouMail.

If I don't get help canceling my account asap and having my personal I formation taken off of this app I will be contacting my atterny. This is the most ridiculous app I have ever used! Extremely annoyed. The deactivation codes for AT&T do not work. I tried contacting a rep. No additional responses. I want this service off. When I dial the 3 codes, all I get is error messages and failed notifications from YouMail. Deactivate this VM!!
