Alternatives if the Deactivation Codes Do Not Work
Deactivating YouMail and restoring your carrier’s voicemail settings rely on carrier-specific codes. If for any reason, the Deactivation Codes listed here are not working, it is likely due to a device or carrier issue. However, there is another method that will deactivate YouMail and forward your calls back to your carrier. Please follow this guide and read over the note at the bottom:
Note: If the carrier's deactivation codes do not work to deactivate your voicemails from YouMail, we would are unable to deactivate your call forwarding from our end. Deactivation has to be done manually on your device or through the carrier. |
Step One:
Call your phone carrier’s customer support line. Here is a list of common carriers and their customer support phone numbers:
AT&T |
(800) 331-0500 |
Ting | (855) 846-4389 |
T-Mobile |
(877) 453-1304 |
Verizon Wireless | (800) 922-0204 |
Step Two:
When a customer support agent asks what you need assistance with, tell them the following: “Hi, my voicemails are being forwarded to a service that I'm no longer using. Please remove all forwarding settings from my account. Specifically, conditional call forwarding which is also known as busy, no answer, or unreachable call forwarding."
That’s it! It should be as simple as that; however, there are a few important things to keep in mind:
-
Do NOT mention YouMail when speaking to the representative. Often they will tell you that YouMail is not a part of their service and will not be inclined to help you if they believe your issue is not carrier-related.
-
If the person helping you does not understand what you are saying, simply ask to speak to a different representative (tier two/advanced technical support). Call forwarding is a standard carrier feature, and there should be someone available that can easily assist you.
