Extra Line on your Android

The Extra Line feature is available with the Professional plan.  Extra Line is a virtual phone number that you can forward to your mobile phone so you can answer inbound calls, or you can forward the calls straight to voicemail. You can also make outbound calls that display the Extra Line number as the caller ID. Text messages to the Extra Line are visible in the Conversations tab in app.

When to use your Extra Line

1. Use It for your business

If your phone is your business, you’ll love using Extra Line. No need for a separate business phone, that’s what Extra Line is here for. Separate business and personal calls with a second phone number.

2. Use it for your privacy

Selling something on Craigslist or using a dating site and don’t want to give out your real number? Use your Extra Line and protect your privacy.

To activate your Extra Line on the Android

Open the YouMail app Open the Menu (three lines) in the upper left corner Click on the Settings
Click on Phone Numbers Click the Three Dots in the upper right corner
Click Virtual Number Settings Select Virtual Number Dialing
Select either Android Dialer or In-App Only Dialer* You can now start using your YouMail Extra Line!

 

Notes: This decision is best determined if you make most of your calls through the Android Dialer or through the YouMail app.

 

How to text from the YouMail app

Open the Menu and select the three bars on the top left corner
Select Conversations
Select Start Chat and type in the phone number to start messaging!

 

How to call from the YouMail app

Tap the blue dialer on the bottom right-hand corner
Dial the number and select the extra line you are calling out from at the bottom
