Here are a few possibilities as to why there was a problem transcribing your message.

- Please first ensure that you are activated and your voicemails are coming through to YouMail. You can verify activation here (select the drop down error to the right of Edit > Verify YouMail is Working).

1. Transcriptions may not be enabled
Your transcriptions may not be enabled via the app. Please see the steps below on how to enable your transcriptions for iPhone & Android.
For Web:
- Sign in
- Select Settings via the left-hand menu
- Select Voicemail to Text
- Scroll down to Settings
- Select Edit
- Ensure the feature is toggled on in the right-hand corner
- Select Save

For iPhone:
- Open the YouMail App
- Go to Settings (Gear symbol - bottom right)
- Go to voicemail to text
- If the toggle is green, that means it is enabled. If not, please tap on the toggle to turn the voicemail to text feature on.

For Android:
2. Transcription Limit Reached
- You have used up your transcription limit for this period. You can check your transcription limit here. To get more transcriptions, you can upgrade here.

3. Your Forwarding a Number Not Added to Your YouMail Account

YouMail only plays the voicemail greeting and transcribes messages for calls from the number attached to your account. Please add the number here, and messages will be transcribed going forward. If you have reached the limit of lines you can add to your account, you may upgrade here.

4. Call Quality was Not Clear
- The message was unclear and could not be transcribed. If your caller has bad reception, the message may not be clear enough to transcribe. You can add a prompt for your callers to speak clearly here (click Edit under the headline Greetings).
