Was I double-billed by YouMail?
If you're seeing duplicate "charges" on your statement from YouMail for the same dollar amount at the same exact time, then you're most likely seeing a pending authorization hold + the actual charge.
What is an authorization hold?
Basically, an authorization hold is a pre-authorization check to ensure the card is valid and/or there are enough funds to cover the charge. Your bank reserves the funds until the transaction processes or the authorization expires. On your bank statement, this will appear as a Pending amount (the same amount for the order you placed) but this Pending amount does not equate to a completed transaction.
How long do holds on credit & debit cards last?
Once the actual charge is settled, the authorization hold should automatically expire or drop off your statement. The time it takes for the authorization hold to expire will depend on your issuing bank's policy but is typically between 3-7 business days.
If the actual charge has already posted to your account but the authorization hold is still visible/pending, you'll want to reach out to the issuing bank to find out when it will expire OR if there is a way to manually expire it.
