Screen Your Caller Prior to the Call Ringing
YouMail has created a new way to stop robocallers in their tracks! If you have an Android device and a paid YouMail plan, you can now enable a call screen that requires unknown callers to enter in a number in order to ring through upon a second call back.
Notes:
- This feature is presently only available for Android subscribers on a paid plan (Coming to iOS and Web soon!).
- This feature only screens unknown callers. All uploaded YouMail contacts and known spammers via our Directory will not receive this screening and be handled correctly.
- The caller must successfully enter in the required number and then hang up and call again to ring through. Otherwise, the call will disconnect.
|
How it works
- Upon enabling this feature, any caller that is not a contact, a known spammer, or someone on your personal blocklist will receive the following message:
|
"The person you are calling is protected by YouMail, to proceed press [provided two-digit number]." |
- If the caller successfully dials the digit provided, they will receive the following message:
- *"More options" leads your caller to the greeting you have enabled (Smart Greeting, Auto-Attendant, etc.)
|
"Thank you, this phone number will not be screened on future calls. Simply hang up and call again or stay on the line for *more options." |
- If the caller does not dial the digits provided, the call will disconnect. Each subsequent call will repeat the above process.
|
- If the caller enters the wrong digits, the prompt will repeat again. "That is not a valid option, to proceed press [two-digit number]"
|
How to enable this feature via the app
- Open the app
- Select the three bars in the top left corner
- Select Call Protection
- Select the three dots in the top right corner
- Select Protection Settings
- Toggle Screen unrecognized callers on
