Stay protected
With any paid plan you can configure the call protection settings to stop numerous types of callers. Once these settings are configured, you can rest assured that YouMail will be working in the background to prevent calls you do not want.
Notes:
- Call protection settings can be configured via web or app.
- Any settings configured via the web will also be seen in app and vice versa, except call screening (iOS, Android).
- Visit the web, sign in, and select Spam Protection from the left-hand menu panel.
- Then select Settings.
- You can toggle Spam Protection on as shown to the right.

Enabling Screen Unknown Callers
- "Screen Unknown Callers" will intercept any incoming calls from numbers not saved in your contacts.
- The aim of the setting is to block 100% of automated / robocalls from reaching you.
- To ensure there is a human on the line, the system will prompt the user to enter a numeric code from the keypad
Eg. 2341 or 985
- Once the person is verified as human, they won't be screened again on future calls.

- Select Edit to change how and who we block.
- YouMail can either filter the message to a spam folder or play an out of service greeting to convince the caller your number is not active.
- By default, the system will already block known spammers. However, you can also block international numbers and unknown local calls.
- Unknown local numbers are considered numbers similar to yours the first 6 digits (xxx) xxx.
-
Note for iOS subscribers: Apple limits ring blocking to only "known" numbers. These additional options for blocking will need to be paired with your "Silence Unknown Callers" option within iOS settings.
- Blocking a specific number range works exactly like blocking unknown local numbers. However, with this setting you can specify which six digit number range you would like to block.
- If you are getting a lot of spam from a certain area like Miami, you can block a range of number from that location by using the first 6 numbers EX: (305) 233.
- You are able to add up to five additional ranges to be blocked by YouMail.
- To add ranges, select Manage Number Ranges as shown above.
- Then, select Add number range.
- Once you have added the desired number ranges it will look like the following image.
- If you get unwanted calls from private numbers, you can have those blocked as well.
- With the setting enabled, ensure that you click Private number settings to let us know how you want these calls handled.
- Private number handling provides you with two options.
- You can either have the call ended automatically or you play a prompt telling your caller to input the number they are calling from to have the call connected.
- With the second option, if the number input is a known spam number, we will block the call from leaving a voicemail.
These settings will help ensure that only the calls important to you are able to reach you. If you have any questions or additional concerns about the settings, please feel free to reach out to us and let us know.
