SIM Missing

Learn how to fix the “SIM Missing” message and complete activation.

Overview

If you see the message “SIM Missing? We couldn't detect your phone's SIM card which is required for YouMail's activation”, it means the app cannot detect valid SIM information on your device. This prevents YouMail from verifying your phone number and completing activation.

This guide explains why this happens and how to fix it.

Why YouMail needs your SIM card

YouMail requires access to your SIM card to:

  • Verify your phone number: Confirms the number belongs to your device

  • Enable voicemail forwarding: Ensures calls route correctly

  • Support spam blocking: Allows proper caller identification

  • Secure your account: Prevents unauthorized activation

If your SIM card cannot be detected, these features may not work correctly.

How to fix the SIM Missing error

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Restart your phone
Turn your phone off and back on to refresh the SIM connection

  2. Check your SIM card
Remove and reinsert the SIM card if possible
Make sure it is seated correctly

  3. Install a SIM reader app
Download a SIM reader app from the Google Play Store, such as:

    • SIM Reader

    • SIM Data Reader

    • SIM Card Reader

These apps help supply device information to YouMail

  4. Open YouMail and try activation again
Launch the app and restart the setup process

Important: If your phone does not have an active SIM card, YouMail mobile activation cannot be completed. You must use a working SIM card to continue.

Troubleshooting common issues
