Activating call forwarding with Ting

Learn how to enable conditional call forwarding on Ting so YouMail can manage your voicemails.

Overview

Ting supports conditional call forwarding, which allows YouMail to handle missed calls and voicemails instead of your carrier voicemail. This article explains how to enable the required setting in your Ting account for both existing and new Ting customers, then complete activation in the YouMail app.


Before you begin

To successfully activate YouMail with Ting, make sure the following requirements are met:

  • Conditional call forwarding is enabled on your Ting account

  • Carrier voicemail is disabled or unused

  • YouMail app is installed on your device

Important changes made in your Ting account may take up to 24 hours to apply before YouMail activation will work.


If you are an existing Ting customer

If you already have an active Ting account, follow these steps to enable call forwarding:

Enable call forwarding in your Ting account

  1. Sign in to Ting.com.

  2. Open the Account menu, then select Device settings.

  3. Click the Edit (pen icon) next to your device.

  4. Click the Edit (pen icon) next to Minutes.

  5. Enable Can use call forwarding on busy/no answer.

  6. Click Save.

Activate YouMail

  1. Download and open the YouMail app.

  2. Sign in or create your YouMail account.

  3. Follow the in-app activation steps to complete setup.

Important:
After enabling call forwarding in Ting, wait up to 24 hours before activating YouMail to ensure the change has fully applied.


If you are a new Ting customer

If you are new to Ting, you must first activate your Ting service before setting up YouMail.

Set up your Ting service

  1. Obtain a Ting SIM card.

  2. Visit Ting.com and create an account.

  3. Select Activate to activate the SIM card.

  4. Enter your phone’s IMEI number to check compatibility.

  5. Once compatible, enter the SIM card number.

  6. Add your payment information and complete activation.

Enable call forwarding in Ting

  1. Sign in to Ting.com.

  2. Open the Account menu, then select Device settings.

  3. Click the Edit (pen icon) next to your device.

  4. Click the Edit (pen icon) next to Minutes.

  5. Enable Can use call forwarding on busy/no answer.

  6. Click Save.

Activate YouMail

  1. Download and open the YouMail app.

  2. Sign in or create your account.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to activate YouMail.

Important:
Wait up to 24 hours after enabling call forwarding in Ting before completing YouMail activation.


Important

Ting account changes do not apply instantly. Attempting to activate YouMail before the 24-hour update window may result in activation or verification failures.


Note

If activation fails after waiting 24 hours, confirm that conditional call forwarding is still enabled in your Ting account and then retry activation in the YouMail app.
