Closing your account via the iPhone app permanently deletes your account and stops service. This guide explains how to request account deletion, manage subscriptions based on billing type, and ensure Conditional Call Forwarding is deactivated so missed calls return to your carrier.

How to close your account via the iPhone app
To close your account using the iPhone app, follow these steps:
Open the app and tap the menu icon gear icon in the upper-left corner.
Scroll to the bottom and select Data & Privacy.
Tap Request Account Deletion.
From this point, the next steps depend on your subscription type.
Close an account with an in-app purchase (IAP)
To close an account with an App Store subscription, follow these steps:
Open the iOS Settings app.
Tap your name, then select Subscriptions.
Tap YouMail.
Select Cancel Subscription and confirm.
Once canceled, automatic billing stops, but your plan remains active until the end of the current billing period.
Important: Canceling an in-app purchase stops future billing but does not immediately close your account.
Note: If you’ve canceled your App Store subscription and want to close your account immediately, contact YouMail Support to request account deletion.
Tip: You can continue using the service until the subscription expires if you choose.
Refunds for in-app purchases must be requested directly through Apple.
Close an account with direct billing through YouMail
To close an account billed directly through YouMail, follow these steps:
After selecting Request Account Deletion, you’ll be redirected to your account page.
Scroll to the bottom and select Close Account.
Tap Go to Billing to manage your active subscription.
Select Change Plan.
Tap Cancel Plan and confirm.
Once the subscription is canceled, you can proceed with account deletion.
Close a free account or finish account deletion after cancellation
To close a free account or complete deletion after canceling a subscription, follow these steps:
Confirm the cancellation prompts shown in the app.
You’ll be prompted twice to prevent accidental deletion.Select Continue until you receive confirmation that your account has been canceled.
Once confirmed, your account will be permanently deleted.
Important: Closing your account and deactivating Conditional Call Forwarding are not the same. Make sure forwarding is disabled so missed calls are handled by your carrier.
Pro tip: Before deleting your account, verify that Conditional Call Forwarding has been removed from your line to avoid missed calls.
How to close your YouMail account via the Android app
To close your YouMail account using the Android app, follow these steps:
Open the app and tap the menu icon (☰) in the top-left corner.
Select Settings.
Scroll down and tap More.
Select Data and Privacy.
Tap Delete Account.
On the website, scroll down to close the account.
When prompted, deactivate your carrier’s Conditional Call Forwarding.
Dial the codes exactly as shown, then select the checkbox and continue.On the next screen, select Completely delete my account.
Once completed, your YouMail account will be permanently deleted.
Important: Deactivating Conditional Call Forwarding is required to fully remove YouMail and return missed calls to your carrier.
Note: Uninstalling the app alone does not stop calls from going to YouMail.
Cancel an active subscription before closing your account
If you have an active subscription, it must be canceled before closing your account.
To cancel your subscription, follow these guidelines:
Subscriptions purchased through Google Play or Apple Pay must be canceled through the app store.
Once the subscription expires, you can complete the account deletion process in YouMail.
Important: Canceling a subscription stops billing but does not automatically close your account.
Note: If you’ve canceled your app store subscription and want to close your account immediately, contact Support for assistance.
Permanently deleting your data
When you choose Completely delete my account, the following data is permanently removed:
Voicemails
Greetings
Contact information
Account settings
Important: If you choose to keep your voicemails, your account will remain active and will not be closed.
Tip: Save any important voicemails to your device or computer before deleting your account.
Return to your carrier’s voicemail
If you’ve deleted the app, canceled your account, or still need to deactivate YouMail, follow the steps in the Deactivating YouMail article to ensure your carrier’s voicemail is fully restored.
Pro tip: After deactivation, place a test call and let it go unanswered to confirm your carrier’s voicemail answers the call.
