How to enable SMS text alerts via the website
Follow these steps to turn on SMS alerts for your voicemail.
Sign in to your YouMail account
To enable SMS text alerts, sign in to your YouMail account using a web browser.
Click Sign in at YouMail website.Open Settings
From the left-hand menu, click Settings.Go to Notifications
Under Settings, select Notifications to manage alert preferences.Confirm your phone number
In the SMS alerts section, click Confirm Phone.
YouMail sends a 4-letter verification code to the phone number on file via SMS.Verify and save
Enter the verification code in the text field, then click Save to enable SMS text alerts.
Note: If you do not receive the verification code, confirm that your phone number is correct and able to receive SMS messages.
How to enable SMS text alerts via the YouMail app for Android
Follow these steps to turn on SMS text alerts in the YouMail Android app.
Open the YouMail app
Launch the YouMail app on your Android device.Open the menu
Tap the three-line menu in the top-left corner of the screen.Go to Settings
From the menu, tap Settings.Select Notifications
In Settings, tap Notifications to manage alert options.Turn on text alerts for new voicemail
Under New voicemail, toggle Text to On.
Tip: If you do not receive text alerts after enabling the toggle, confirm that SMS notifications are allowed for the YouMail app in your Android system settings.
How to enable SMS text alerts via the YouMail app for iPhone
Follow these steps to turn on SMS text alerts in the YouMail iOS app.
Click the Gear widget in the upper left-hand corner.
Scroll to and tap on notifications.
Tap to view and configure your text alerts for each category.
For the first time you enable this, you will be prompted to enter a verification code sent via SMS.
Troubleshooting common issues
Not receiving the verification code: Make sure your phone number is correct, and SMS messaging is enabled with your carrier.
SMS alerts option missing: SMS text alerts only appear for accounts with an active paid subscription.
Changes not saving: Click Save after entering the verification code to apply your settings.
