What is YouMail?
YouMail is a voicemail and call management service that includes voicemail-to-text transcription, customizable greetings, spam blocking, and other advanced features. It has replaced PhoneTag’s voicemail service on the backend, giving former PhoneTag customers access to a broader set of capabilities without losing voicemail access.
Important: Depending on the features you want (such as extra lines, auto-reply, or business tools), you may need to upgrade to a Plus, Professional, or other paid plan. |
How do I access my old PhoneTag voicemails?
Your PhoneTag data, including voicemails and personal profile information, has been automatically transferred to your YouMail account. To access them:
Sign in to YouMail.com or open the YouMail app
Use the email address and password you used for PhoneTag
You’ll see your existing voicemails and settings in your YouMail inbox
There’s no separate activation required unless you want YouMail to also be incorporated for call blocking/screening or any of the additional features we provide.
What features does YouMail offer that PhoneTag didn’t?
YouMail expands on PhoneTag’s voicemail offering with features designed for modern call management:
Larger inbox storage, so you don’t need to delete old voicemails frequently
Virtual numbers (Extra Lines) you can forward to your main number or assign independent greetings
Custom voicemail greetings for individual contacts, or upload your own recording
Advanced spam blocking using community and global data to stop nuisance calls
Auto-Reply sends callers a text response automatically after a voicemail
Email Copying of voicemail alerts to additional email addresses
These tools help you manage voicemail and calls more efficiently on both personal and business levels.
Do I need to do anything to get started with YouMail?

Sign in with the same credentials you used for PhoneTag
Review or set up conditional call forwarding if you want YouMail to handle your voicemail and spam blocking directly
Tip: After signing in, explore the YouMail dashboard or mobile app to see new features and settings you didn’t have in PhoneTag.
