Overview

YouMail Drop Box lets you collect voicemail messages from other voicemail systems—such as VoIP or PBX providers—directly into your YouMail inbox. By forwarding voicemail notification emails that include an audio attachment, YouMail automatically converts them into playable voicemail messages.

Key benefits

  • Centralized voicemail: View all voicemails in one YouMail inbox

  • Easy setup: Works with simple email forwarding

  • Provider flexibility: Supports VoIP and PBX systems

  • Audio preservation: Keeps original voicemail recordings

Before you begin

  • You must have access to email forwarding from your voicemail provider

  • Voicemail emails must include an audio attachment

  • Supported audio formats are .wav and .mp3

Note: Forwarding rules are configured through your email service, not in YouMail.

How to use YouMail Drop Box

Follow these steps to start sending voicemail messages to YouMail Drop Box.

Step 1: Find your YouMail Drop Box email address

Your Drop Box email address is:

[your 10-digit phone number]@my.youmail.com

Step 2: Set up email forwarding

  1. Open the email account that receives voicemail notifications from your VoIP or PBX provider

  2. Create an email forwarding rule

  3. Forward voicemail notification emails to your YouMail Drop Box email address

Important: Refer to your email provider’s documentation for instructions on creating forwarding rules.

Step 3: Confirm audio attachment format

Make sure forwarded voicemail emails include:

  • An audio attachment in .wav or .mp3 format

Without an audio attachment, YouMail cannot add the voicemail to your inbox.

Step 4: Check your YouMail inbox

Once forwarding is set up correctly:

  • The voicemail audio will appear in your YouMail Inbox

  • Messages behave like standard YouMail voicemails

Automatic message acceptance

Voicemail notifications are automatically accepted and added to your YouMail inbox when they come from:

  • A supported provider

  • An email domain associated with your account (listed under My Accounts on YouMail.com)

  • An email address saved in your YouMail Contacts

Tip: Adding your voicemail notification email address to YouMail Contacts helps ensure delivery.

Troubleshooting

Voicemails are not appearing in my inbox

  • Confirm emails are being forwarded to the correct Drop Box email address

  • Verify the email includes a .wav or .mp3 attachment

The email forwarded but no voicemail was added

  • The message may not include an audio file

  • The attachment format may be unsupported

Some messages appear but others do not

  • Check whether all messages are coming from the same sender

  • Add the sender email address to YouMail Contacts

My provider is not supported

  • YouMail may still accept messages if the email domain or address is trusted

  • Contact support if messages are consistently rejected
