Unsupported Carriers

Learn what an unsupported carrier is, what CCF is and what to do if your carrier does not support it.

Overview

YouMail requires Conditional Call Forwarding (CCF) to properly receive and manage missed calls. If your mobile carrier does not support CCF, it is considered an unsupported carrier, and YouMail will not be able to receive your voicemails.

Conditional Call Forwarding allows calls to be routed to YouMail when you do not answer, your line is busy, or your phone is unavailable. Without this feature, missed calls go directly to your carrier’s voicemail instead of YouMail. Some carriers may refer to Conditional Call Forwarding as "Busy/No Answer Transfer," so ask your carrier about this term if there is confusion.

What Is Conditional Call Forwarding (CCF)?

Conditional Call Forwarding is a carrier-level feature that forwards incoming calls based on specific conditions:

  • When a call is not answered

  • When your line is busy

  • When your phone is turned off or out of coverage

This feature acts like a smart switch, ensuring missed calls are forwarded to YouMail so you can use features like visual voicemail, spam call blocking, and custom greetings.

  • Note: Most major carriers support CCF, but access may depend on your plan tier.

What to Do If Your Carrier Does Not Support CCF?

If you believe your carrier does not support Conditional Call Forwarding, follow these steps:

1. Contact Your Carrier

Ask customer support if Conditional Call Forwarding is supported on your specific plan.

2. Request CCF Activation

If CCF is available but not enabled by default, request that it be turned on for your line.

3. Upgrade or Change Plans

If CCF is restricted to higher-tier plans, consider upgrading to a plan that includes this feature.

4. Provide Feedback

Carriers may reconsider support for CCF if enough customers request it.
