You can personalize your voicemail by recording or uploading a custom greeting directly from your YouMail online account. This guide walks you through recording a greeting using your microphone or uploading an audio file from your computer. Once saved, you can assign the greeting as your Main Greeting or apply it to specific contacts.

How to record a custom greeting on the web
To record a custom greeting from your YouMail online account, follow these steps:
Sign in to your account at YouMail.com.
Click Greetings from the left-hand menu.
Select Greeting Summary.
Click Record a New Greeting.
Enter a Greeting Name.
Click the microphone icon to begin recording.
Wait for the greeting to finish processing.
If you do not want this to be your main greeting, please uncheck the box in the lower left-hand corner.
Click Save Greeting.
Your recording will now appear in your Greetings list. You can set it as your Main Greeting or assign it to a specific contact.
How to upload a custom greeting on the web
To upload an audio file as a greeting, follow these steps:
Sign in to YouMail.com.
Click Greetings, then select Greeting Summary.
Click Upload Audio File.
Enter a Greeting Name and an optional description.
Click Choose File and select your audio file.
Click Upload Audio File.
Uncheck Make this my main greeting option located in the lowe left hand corner if this will not be your main greeting.
Important: To see the option to record or upload greetings, the Auto-Attendant feature must be disabled. You may re-enable it after saving your greeting.
How to record or upload a greeting on Android
To record or change a greeting using the YouMail Android app, follow these steps:
Open the YouMail app.
Tap the Menu icon (☰) in the top-left corner.
Tap Greetings.
Tap Recordings.
To upload Tap, "Upload existing file on device".
Tap Record and record a greeting
Once completed Tap Submit
Record your message and tap Save.
You can also assign greetings to specific contacts from the Greetings section.
Note: Menu names may vary slightly depending on Android version and app updates.
How to record a greeting on iPhone
To record or change a greeting using the YouMail iPhone app, follow these steps:
Open the YouMail app.
Tap the Gear Icon in the upper left-hand corner.
Select Safe Voicemail.
Tap Set Voicemail Greeting.
Select Record a Greeting.
Tap the Red record button to begin.
Uncheck set as main option below the red record button if the greeting will not be set as main.
Tap Save.
Enter the name of the greeting
Tap Save
You can set the greeting as your Main Greeting or assign it to a specific contact if needed.
Note: There is no option available to upload a greeting via the iPhone app.
Important: Contacts must be uploaded to YouMail for personalized greetings (such as Smart Greeting) to address callers by name.
Tip: Record in a quiet environment to improve sound clarity.
