The Smart Greeting in YouMail greets callers by name and plays a personalized availability message. Editing your Smart Greeting lets you update your name pronunciation, company information, or status message from the Android app, iPhone app, or the YouMail website.

How to edit Smart Greeting on Android
To edit your Smart Greeting in the YouMail Android app, follow these steps:
Open the YouMail app
Tap the Menu icon (☰) in the top-left corner
Tap Greetings
Select Smart Greeting
Tap the Edit (pencil icon) in the top-right corner
Update your greeting details, including:
Name pronunciation
Company name
Greeting or availability message
Tap Save
Important: Contacts must be uploaded to YouMail for callers to hear their names in the Smart Greeting.
Note: Menu names or layout may vary slightly depending on your Android device or app version.
Tip: Update your Status Greeting to change what callers hear when you are busy, away, or unavailable.
How to edit Smart Greeting on iPhone
To edit your Smart Greeting in the YouMail iPhone app, follow these steps:
Open the YouMail app
Tap the Gear Icon in the upper left-hand corner
Tap Safe Voicemail
Tap Set Voicemail Greeting
Tap Smart Greeting (Smart greeting must be selected as the main greeting)
Tap Edit
Tap Edit Smart Greeting
Update your greeting settings, status message, and salutation
Tap Save
Important: Contacts must be uploaded to YouMail for callers to hear their names in the Smart Greeting.
Tip: If you want to temporarily change availability, update the Status Greeting inside Smart Greeting settings.
How to edit Smart Greeting on the web
To edit your Smart Greeting from your online account, follow these steps:
Sign in to your account at YouMail.com
Select Greeting
Click Greeting Summary
Select Edit Smart Greeting (Smart greeting needs to be selected as the main greeting)
Update your greeting settings, status message, or name pronunciation
Click Save
Important: Make sure your Smart Greeting is set as the Main greeting or applied to the correct phone line, or callers may not hear it.
Note: Status Greetings can be set to expire automatically by choosing an expiration date and time.
Pro tip: Use Status Greetings to inform callers when you are in a meeting, on vacation, or out of the office without re-recording your main greeting.
