Record new messages, edit existing ones, or assign personalized greetings to individual contacts. How to assign or change greetings
Web Platform
Log in to YouMail.com
In the left-hand menu, click Greetings and then select "Your Greetings" from the drop-down menu:
To assign a greeting to a contact:
Save changes. Your greeting will now play for the selected contacts
Mobile App (Android)
Open the YouMail app and tap the Menu (☰) icon in the top left corner
Tap Greetings
The Summary tab shows which greetings are assigned to your phone number and extra line. The Recordings tab shows all your greetings currently saved on your account.
To assign a greeting to a contact:
Tap Recordings
Select the greeting you want to assign
Tap the contact icon with the plus sign next to it
Choose which contacts should hear the selected greeting
Save your changes
iPhone App
1. Open the YouMail app and tap the gear icon in the top left corner
2. Tap the number you wish to update the greeting for
3 . Under "Greetings," select the option beside "Main Greeting" to access the greeting options
4. Choose between:
a. **Record New** – Record a custom greeting (allow microphone access when prompted)
b. **User Smart Greeting** – Choose from your library of pre-recorded greetings
c. Use Main Phone Greeting - Uses the greeting assigned to your main line
d. Choose Another Greeting - Allows you to switch between previously stored greetings
3. To assign a greeting to a contact:
Go to the Contacts tab
Select the contact you want to assign the greeting to
Tap **Greetings** in the top right corner to access the greeting options
Choose between:
a. View Greeting – Allows you to see what greeting is assigned to the contact
b. Record New** – Record a custom greeting (allow microphone access when
prompted)
c. Select From Greeting List - Allows you to switch between stored Greetings

Default greeting – The greeting set in the "Main" section becomes your default for all callers

Yes – all platforms allow you to change your default greeting. The change will sync across all devices.

On any platform, select the greeting, then use the contact assignment feature (Add Contacts on mobile, Select Contacts on web).
Why can't I see my contacts when assigning a greeting?
Make sure your contacts are synced to YouMail. Refer to the guide on adding contacts to your YouMail account.
Can I use community greetings on all platforms?
Yes – the community greeting library is available across the web, mobile app, and iPhone.
What happens if I don't assign a greeting to a contact?
The default greeting will play for all callers who don't have a specific greeting assigned.
