Overview
By default, YouMail adds a short prompt to your voicemail greeting that says, “Please speak clearly. Your voicemail is being transcribed by YouMail.” This helps improve transcription accuracy, but you can disable it if you prefer a shorter or more professional greeting. This guide shows you how to turn it off on Android, iPhone, and the web.

How to disable the “Please speak clearly” prompt
Follow the steps below based on the device or platform you use to manage your YouMail account.
Disable the prompt on Android
Open the YouMail app.
Tap the Menu (three bars).
Select Settings.
Tap Voicemail transcription.
Toggle off Ask to speak clearly.
Tap Save.
Disable the prompt on iPhone
Open the YouMail app.
Tap the Settings (gear) icon in the upper left-hand corner.
Select Safe Voicemail.
Select Voicemail Transcription.w
Toggle off Ask to speak clearly.
Disable the prompt on the web
Sign in at YouMail.com.
Select Settings from the left-hand menu.
Choose Voicemail transcription from the dropdown.
Scroll to Greetings and click Edit.
Uncheck Ask callers to speak clearly.
Click Save.
Note
Disabling this prompt does not turn off voicemail transcription. Your messages will still be transcribed as long as transcription is included in your plan.
