Block unwanted callers using the YouMail app on Android or iPhone.

Overview

Blocking a contact in the YouMail app prevents unwanted callers from reaching your phone or voicemail. This guide explains how to block a contact using both the Android and iPhone YouMail apps, including how to report a caller as spam when applicable.

Key benefits / use cases

  • Stop unwanted calls: Prevent specific contacts from calling or leaving voicemails

  • Spam protection: Report known spammers to improve call filtering

  • Easy contact control: Manage blocked callers directly from your contact list

How to block a contact on Android

Blocking a contact on Android stops calls from that number and applies your YouMail blocking rules.

To block a contact on Android, follow these steps:

  1. Open the YouMail app

  2. Tap Contacts at the bottom of the screen

  3. Select the contact you want to block

  4. Tap the More options (⋮) icon in the top-right corner

  5. Select Block

Important: Marking a caller as Spammer is optional but helps improve YouMail’s spam detection.

How to block a contact on iPhone

Blocking a contact on iPhone prevents the caller from reaching your phone and routes them according to your YouMail blocking settings.

To block a contact on iPhone, follow these steps:

  1. Open the YouMail app

  2. Tap Contacts at the bottom of the screen

  3. Select the contact you want to block

Tip:

If a blocked caller continues contacting you from multiple numbers, consider enabling additional spam-blocking features in your account settings.

Pro tip:

Review your Blocked contacts list periodically to ensure important callers are not blocked by mistake.
