Overview
YouMail can be used with landline and office phone systems to manage voicemail, even though call blocking is not supported on non-mobile lines. By activating conditional call forwarding, missed and unanswered calls are routed to YouMail so you can access voicemails online, in the app, or via email. This guide explains how to add a landline to your account and activate forwarding correctly.
Key benefits / use cases
Centralized voicemail management: Access landline and mobile voicemails in one inbox
Multi-line support: Manage voicemails for 2–15 additional lines with a paid plan
Reliable voicemail delivery: Ensure missed calls reach YouMail instead of carrier voicemail
How to add a landline or office phone to YouMail
Adding your landline or office phone to YouMail allows the service to receive voicemails for that number.
To add a landline or office phone, follow these steps:
Sign in to your YouMail account at YouMail.com.
Click Phone Lines from the left-hand menu.
Select + Add Line → Phone Line.
Enter a Nickname and the Phone Number.
For Phone Model, select Other.
Click Add.
If prompted, follow the on-screen activation instructions.
Note: If YouMail automatically detects your carrier, activation instructions may be provided immediately.
How to activate call forwarding manually for a landline
If your carrier is not detected or instructions are not shown, you will need to activate call forwarding manually through your provider.
To activate call forwarding manually, follow these steps:
Locate your YouMail deposit number.
Sign in to YouMail.com
Go to Phone Lines
Copy the number listed under Deposit Number
Call your landline or office phone provider’s support line.
Ask the representative to enable conditional call forwarding for:
Busy calls
No answer calls
Unavailable calls
Provide your YouMail deposit number as the forwarding destination.
How to test your landline setup
Testing ensures only missed calls are forwarded to YouMail.
To test call forwarding:
Ask the carrier representative to place a test call.
Do not answer the call.
Confirm the voicemail appears in your YouMail inbox.
Ensure calls still ring your phone normally before going to voicemail.
Important
YouMail cannot block calls from ringing on landlines or office phones
Do not enable Always Call Forwarding, as this will send all calls directly to voicemail
Only conditional call forwarding (busy, no answer, unavailable) should be enabled
Note
Landline activation must be completed by the carrier. YouMail cannot enable or disable call forwarding remotely for landline or office phone systems.
