Overview
Verizon Wireless customers can activate YouMail by enabling Conditional Call Forwarding, which redirects unanswered, missed, or busy calls to YouMail instead of Verizon’s basic voicemail. This setup gives you visual voicemail, spam protection, and custom greetings while keeping your regular calls unaffected. Follow these steps to activate, manage, and troubleshoot YouMail on your Verizon line.
How to activate YouMail on Verizon
To activate YouMail with Verizon using Conditional Call Forwarding, follow these steps:
Open the Phone app on your device.
Dial *71 followed by your Deposit Number (example: *71xxxxxxxxxx).
Your Deposit Number is the unique number YouMail uses to receive forwarded calls.
Find it in the YouMail app or by signing into YouMail.com by clicking here.
Tap Call and wait for the confirmation tone or message.
Once confirmed, hang up.
Important:
Make sure to include the asterisk (*) before 71 when dialing.
What is Conditional Call Forwarding?
Conditional Call Forwarding sends your calls to YouMail only when:
You don’t answer,
Your line is busy, or
Your phone is turned off or unreachable.
This ensures YouMail manages voicemail without interrupting your normal calls.
How to deactivate Conditional Call Forwarding
To turn off YouMail forwarding with Verizon:
Dial *73.
Tap Call.
Wait for the confirmation tone, then hang up.
Troubleshooting Tips
Ensure your phone has a signal when activating.
If *71 doesn’t work, try *90 or *92, depending on your region, or contact Verizon for assistance.
If you still experience issues, contact YouMail Support for help.
Once Conditional Call Forwarding is set up, you’ll start enjoying the full benefits of YouMail — including enhanced visual voicemail, spam protection, and personalized call handling.
