Changing the Number of Rings

Learn how to change the number of rings before a call is sent to YouMail voicemail.

Overview

Changing the number of rings before voicemail is controlled by your mobile carrier, not YouMail. Because YouMail uses your carrier’s Conditional Call Forwarding to receive unanswered calls, the carrier determines how long your phone rings before forwarding to voicemail. This guide explains how to request a ring-length change and what to expect.

How to change the number of rings before voicemail

To change the number of rings before calls are forwarded to YouMail, follow these steps:

  1. Contact your mobile carrier’s Customer Support or Technical Support using their support phone number or website.

  2. Request a change to the number of rings before voicemail answers (sometimes called “ring time” or “no-answer timer”).

  3. Ask the representative to confirm the new ring duration and whether any additional steps are required on your device.

  4. Test by calling your phone to verify the new ring length works as expected.

Important: YouMail cannot directly change the number of rings because voicemail timing is controlled by your mobile carrier’s Conditional Call Forwarding settings.

Note: Not all carriers allow the number of rings to be changed. Availability depends on carrier policies and network capabilities.
