How to enable two-factor authentication

Add an extra layer of security to protect your YouMail account.

Overview

Two-factor authentication (2FA) makes it harder for unauthorized users to access your YouMail account. It requires two forms of identity: your password and a verification code sent to your phone number or email. Even if someone has your password, they won't be able to sign in without access to your second factor.

Key benefits

  • Enhanced security – protects your account from unauthorized access.

  • Dual verification – uses both your phone number and email for added protection.

  • Peace of mind – reduces the risk of account compromise.

  • Backup options – enable 2FA on both your phone and email to ensure you always have access.

How to enable two-factor authentication

  1. Sign in to your YouMail account on the website.

  2. Click your name in the top right corner.

  3. Select Security.

  4. Scroll down to Manage Two-Factor Authentication.

  5. Enter your account password.

  6. Click Add a Verification Method.

  7. Choose either your registered phone number or email address.

  8. Enter the six-digit code sent to your verification method.

  9. Repeat the process to add your second verification method.

Important recommendations

Enable 2FA on both your phone number and email address. This ensures you have a backup verification method if you lose access to one of them. YouMail cannot disable or update 2FA internally, so having both methods active prevents you from being locked out of your account.

Once enabled, all future logins will require a six-digit verification code in addition to your password.
